Travel increases our sense of tolerance and understanding for different cultures, increases our inner and larger sense of connection to other people and to the world at large.
Let's think about the word: discover. It means to remove a cover and to find something that’s hidden. When you travel next, perhaps you should think of your break as a chance to find out something new about yourself through the eyes of another land, a truly foreign experience. After all, there’s a world outside to discover, and a world inside you. Here are four of the many destinations Sunways has to offer.
Pure opulence and luxury
Sprawling Delhi, monumental Agra and resplendent Jaipur were christened India's ‘Golden Triangle' thanks to the extraordinary wealth of their culture and history. The north-western trio offer a unique attack on the senses and the chance to discover a seemingly new spectrum of colour, sound, flavours and scents. Travel south to tropical Kerala and you’ll be able to breathe in deeply the scent of verdant tea plantations while gliding along palm-fringed backwaters. Stay at Kerala’s Leela Kovalam Hotel and you’ll discover a cliff top setting overlooking pristine beaches, world class service and palatial accommodation. You might discover you quite enjoy opulence and luxury.

A compelling mix of bewildering modernity
Modern China, and particularly its capital for 800 years, Beijing, offers a compelling mix of bewildering modernity and a city proud of its fascinating imperial past. Beijing is a post-Olympic city with a superb infrastructure able to transport you around excellently preserved historic architecture, vibrant outdoor markets, colourful nightlife and natural beauty. You could stay at the 5-star Raffles Beijing who will gladly create a bespoke itinerary to help you cram every waking moment with discovery. Travel south from Beijing to experience Xian’s Terracotta Army, the dramatic beauty of the mighty Yangtze River and fall in love with cosmopolitan Shanghai which reflects the international influence of classic Paris, 1930s Chicago and Tudor England .

Asia’s hidden gems
Thankfully, Vietnam and Cambodia remain Asia’s hidden gems, slightly off a tourist track that’s been beaten heavily into the ground by tourists traipsing to Thailand. Vietnam and Cambodia are both overwhelmingly beautiful countries. The former is nature’s most serene paradise but if you’re looking for a little more culture you may want to stay at the Hotel Metropole Hanoi, a 100 year old award-winning French colonial-style hotel lying in the heart of Hanoi which after the war years, became a base for press and diplomats. The latter is a little less manicured with unspoilt beaches, crystal clear waters and waterside towns just waiting to be discovered. Oh, and did we mention some of the most interesting food in the world delivered daily by a staggering natural harvest?

The undiscovered continent
For the intrepid, to tour South America is to embrace the sensual rhythms and cadences of an undiscovered continent. You could hike the Inca Trail from Peru’s Lima to Brazil’s Rio; you could dance a fiery tango on the streets of Argentina’s Buenos Aires or sail up the majestic Amazon. There’s so much to discover in South America, including much about yourself. You could stay at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, which sits exclusively next to the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. This natural idyll is surrounded by limitless forms of fauna, flora and flight. After exploring the estate of the former Inca emperor Pachacuti, at Belmond you can discover deep inner peace thanks to massages and aromatherapy treatments based on ancient Inca techniques.
